Loft conversion, basement or period building with knee walls: where a vertical wall bed fails because of the ceiling height, a horizontal wall bed is the solution. It folds down sideways along the wall – the required wall height only corresponds to the bed width plus carcass, not the bed length.

Tip: make clever use of the slope
With sloping ceilings, what counts is the wall height where the bed is mounted – not the room height in the middle. Measure the height of the knee wall: from 128 cm, the M2 in 100×200 already fits. The clear space in front of the bed may lie under the slope, as long as you can lie comfortably.
With sofa or without?

Horizontal wall beds such as the SMARTBett M2: they fold down sideways and, depending on size, need only 128–189 cm of wall height (100x200: 128 cm, 140x200: 168.2 cm, 160x200: 188.2 cm) – vertical models, by contrast, need a ceiling height of over 220 cm.
How much depth does a horizontal wall bed need?
Only 55 cm when folded up. When folded down, the M2 needs a clear room depth of 147.4–207.4 cm, depending on size.
